About OHT: The Finleys, Ohr HaTorah's Founders

Ohr HaTorah was founded by Rabbi Mordecai and Meirav Finley in 1994 with the help of a small group of families. Rabbi Mordecai and Meirav were inspired to build a type of synagogue they felt was missing from the Los Angeles Jewish Landscape. Principally, they saw the need for a non-affiliated shul that could attract a diverse group of congregants hoping to find both a vibrant community and a place that encouraged personal spiritual development.
