This class is designed for those who have already studied basic Jewish spirituality and/or Kabbalah with Rabbi Finley, or gained equivalent requisite knowledge elsewhere, and are interested in intermediate and advanced studies. The course will include attention to creating and maintaining a spiritual practice, with both meditative and moral contemplative dimensions.
The class will focus on ongoing teachings on the practical spiritual usages of the concepts of the Kabbalah and Kabbalistic, Chassidic, and Mussar thought and texts. A special focus for these sessions will be the Kabbalistic practice of the counting of the Omer, including a discussion of the upper, more mystical Sephirot.
In addition, we will work on building a Hebrew vocabulary connected with Kabbalah and Jewish spirituality.
Depending on the interests of the students, the course may also contain a workshop element where students can interact with one another regarding their spiritual work and practice.
